Strontium Nitrate Sr(NO₃)₂

Strontium nitrate (Sr(NO₃)₂) is a fine white crystalline powder at 99 percent or better purity, with low-chloride and low-impurity grades available. It supplies roughly 38 percent available oxygen and picks up little moisture in storage.

In pyrotechnics it serves as both oxidizer and the strontium source for red flame color, forming the emitting strontium monochloride species when a chlorine donor is present in the composition. It is the standard red colorant in display-grade stars, aerial shells, mines and cakes, and in red signal and marine flare compositions. It also sees use in some ceramic and glass work.
