Potassium Nitrate KNO3

Potassium nitrate (KNO₃), also sold as saltpeter, is a white crystalline powder at 99 percent or better purity, low in moisture and granulated or prilled for consistent flow. It carries roughly 39.6 percent available oxygen, which is what makes it the traditional oxidizer of pyrotechnics.

It is used as the oxidizer in black powder, lift and burst charges, prime, colored stars, fountains and rocket propellant compositions, where burn rate and output stay predictable batch to batch. Outside pyrotechnics it is used in fertilizer blends, heat-treating salt baths, glass manufacture and meat curing.
