Nitromethane Fuel & Solvent

Nitromethane (CH3NO2) is a colorless liquid with a faintly sweet odor, supplied as reagent grade. It is polar, flammable, and dissolves a wide range of organic and some inorganic materials, which is the basis of most of its laboratory use.

It is used as a solvent in extraction, chromatography and synthesis work, as a fuel and fuel component in drag racing and model engines, and as a chemical intermediate. Its high energy density is the reason it is favored in motorsport fuels. Keep it away from ignition sources and strong bases.
