Ethyl acetate is an ester solvent supplied as a 950 ml bottle of laboratory reagent at 99.7% purity or better. It is a clear, flammable liquid with a low boiling point, a fruity odor and good solvency for a wide range of organic compounds.

It is used in liquid-liquid extraction, as a mobile phase component in thin layer and column chromatography, as a reaction and recrystallization solvent in organic synthesis, and as a fast-evaporating solvent in coatings, adhesives and cleaning work. It is biodegradable and comparatively low in toxicity among common organic solvents.
