950ml Aluminum Sulfate

Aluminum sulfate, often called alum in the trade, is supplied here as a solution in a 950 ml bottle. It hydrolyzes in water to give aluminum hydroxide floc and an acidic solution, which accounts for its two main roles.

It is used as a coagulant in drinking water, wastewater and pond treatment, where it aggregates suspended solids and organic matter for settling or filtration, and as a soil acidifier for hydrangeas, blueberries and other acid-loving plants. It also appears in paper sizing, dye and pigment mordanting, and leather tanning.
