5g Dysprosium Oxide

Dysprosium oxide is a rare earth oxide supplied as a green powder at laboratory grade in 5 g quantities. The dysprosium in it is recovered from minerals such as xenotime and monazite.

Its main use is as the dysprosium source in high-coercivity neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets, where dysprosium raises the temperature at which a magnet holds its field in electric motors and generators. Dysprosium also absorbs neutrons strongly, which puts the oxide into reactor control and shielding materials, and it is used as a dopant in specialty glass, ceramics and phosphors to modify optical behavior and durability.
