Phthalic Anhydride 99%+ Purity 2-Benzofuran-1,3-dione, Phthalanhydride

Phthalic anhydride, also listed as 2-benzofuran-1,3-dione or phthalanhydride, is supplied as a powder at 99%+ purity. It is a corrosive material and one of the standard anhydride intermediates in resin and plasticizer chemistry.

It is used in the production of phthalate plasticizers such as DOP, DINP and DIDP, in unsaturated polyester resins and alkyd resins for gelcoats and paints, and as a starting material for dyes, pigments and pharmaceutical intermediates. Low maleic, fumaric and naphthoquinone content limits color development in finished resins and plasticizers.
