This thermite kit supplies the metal fuel and metal oxide components for five pounds of thermite, the classic aluminothermic mixture. Components are packaged separately, and the kit is intended for users who already understand the reaction and its hazards.

Thermite reactions are used in exothermic rail and cable welding, in foundry work for tapping and repair, in metallothermic reduction of metals from their oxides, and in metals demonstrations and sculpture. The reaction produces molten metal and slag at temperatures well above the melting point of steel and cannot be extinguished with water.
