25g Phenol

Phenol (C6H5OH) supplied in a 25 g quantity. It is a colorless to pale pink crystalline solid with a distinctive sharp odor, soluble in water and in most organic solvents, and it liquefies readily when slightly wet or warm.

It is used as a laboratory reagent and starting material for aromatic synthesis, in the production of phenolic resins, adhesives and plastics, and as a disinfectant and antiseptic in dilute preparations. Phenol is toxic and causes severe burns, and it absorbs rapidly through skin, so gloves and ventilation are required.
