Potassium Perchlorate KClO4

Potassium perchlorate (KClO4) supplied as a fine white crystalline powder, laboratory grade. It is the most widely used oxidizer in modern pyrotechnics, notably less sensitive to friction and impact than potassium chlorate, and it carries a high proportion of available oxygen.

It is used as the oxidizer in colored star, white light and report compositions, in match and igniter manufacture, and in pyrotechnic work alongside metal fuels. Outside pyrotechnics it serves as a laboratory reagent and in pharmaceutical treatment of thyroid conditions. As a strong oxidizer it is stored apart from fuels and organic material.
