1lb Paraformaldehyde (prills)

Paraformaldehyde supplied as free-flowing prills in a 1 lb package. It is the solid polymer of formaldehyde and releases formaldehyde on heating or in solution, which makes it a convenient dry source of the gas for laboratory and shop use.

It is used to prepare fixative solutions for histology and microscopy, as a disinfectant and fumigant, and as a feedstock in the manufacture of phenolic, urea and melamine resins and other formaldehyde derivatives. The prills depolymerize slowly in storage and the vapor is toxic, so keep containers closed and work with ventilation.
