Ferric (III) Chloride Powder FeCl3 99+% Purity Industrial Grade

Ferric chloride, FeCl3, is supplied as an industrial grade powder at 99+ percent purity in one-pound quantities. It is strongly hygroscopic and dissolves in water to give an acidic yellow-brown solution.

Its largest use is as a coagulant and flocculant in drinking water and wastewater treatment, where it clarifies water and drops out suspended solids. It is also the standard etchant for copper printed circuit boards and for steel, and in the laboratory it works as a Lewis acid catalyst, a mild oxidizing agent and the reagent in the classic test for phenols. It is used in pigment manufacture as well.
