Diethyl Phthalate (DEP)

Diethyl phthalate (DEP) is a clear, colorless liquid of low odor and low volatility, supplied at laboratory grade. It is chemically stable, compatible with a wide range of resins and organic compounds, and evaporates slowly enough to act as a carrier rather than a thinner.

Its largest use is as a fragrance fixative and carrier in perfumes, colognes and scented products, holding a composition together and slowing the loss of volatile aromatics. It is also a plasticizer for cellulose acetate and related polymers in coatings, films and molded goods, and a solvent for dyes, resins and actives in industrial formulations.
