1lb Copper Benzoate

Copper benzoate is the copper salt of benzoic acid, supplied as a blue-green powder in a one-pound container. It combines a copper source with an organic acid anion, which is what makes it useful where a plain copper oxide or carbonate would not serve.

In pyrotechnics it is used as a copper donor in compositions producing blue flame color, and the benzoate anion also contributes fuel. Elsewhere it is used as a fungicide and bactericide in agricultural and preservative applications, and as a catalyst and copper source in organic synthesis. Copper salts are harmful to aquatic life; avoid drain disposal.
