1lb Chromium Aluminum Sulfate

Chromium aluminum sulfate is a crystalline double sulfate of chromium and aluminum, supplied in a one-pound container. It belongs to the alum family and dissolves in water to give a colored solution that shifts between violet and green with temperature and age.

Its long-standing use is in leather tanning, where the chromium fixes to collagen and produces chrome-tanned hide. It is also used in metal finishing and plating baths, as a hardening agent for gelatin in photographic emulsions, and as a mordant in textile dyeing. Crystal growers use it as well, since it forms large octahedral crystals readily.
