100g Lead Tetroxide (Red Lead)

Lead tetroxide, commonly called red lead, is a bright orange-red lead oxide with the formula Pb3O4, supplied in 100 gram quantities. It is a dense, water-insoluble powder that is thermally stable and acts as an oxidizer.

Its long-standing industrial use is in anti-corrosive primers and protective coatings for structural steel. It is also used as a pigment and as a flux and colorant in glass, glazes and pottery, in lead-acid battery plate manufacture, and in specialty ceramics and optical glass. Red lead is toxic by ingestion and inhalation, and the dust should be kept contained.
