100g Copper (II) Chloride

Copper (II) chloride is a blue-green crystalline salt supplied in a 100 g quantity as a laboratory reagent. It is highly soluble in water and alcohol and is available in both anhydrous and dihydrate forms, the dihydrate being the more common bench material.

It is used as an etchant for copper in printed circuit board manufacture, as a catalyst and chlorinating agent in organic synthesis, and as a mordant in textile dyeing and printing. In the lab it serves as a general soluble copper source and in flame test demonstrations. It is also used as a precursor for other copper compounds.
