Dextrin (Dextrose) Powder

Yellow dextrin is a water-soluble starch derivative, usually corn-derived, supplied as a fine pale yellow to light tan powder at industrial and commercial grade. Dissolved in warm water it forms a sticky solution, and it is the common binder for pyrotechnic stars, pellets, and granulations, giving useful green strength for cutting and handling while burning with little ash or effect on flame color.

Outside pyrotechnics, dextrin is used as an adhesive base in paper and packaging gums, as a thickener and coating agent in food work, and as a temporary binder in ceramic and foundry processes.
