Strontium Carbonate SrCO3 Powder

Strontium carbonate (SrCO3) is a fine white powder supplied at lab grade, typically 98 to 99 percent or better. In ceramics it is the common source of SrO and the usual replacement for barium carbonate in glaze recipes, giving comparable satin and matte surfaces without barium's toxicity, along with clean color response from copper, cobalt, chrome, and iron.

It also acts as a flux and raises glaze brightness and clarity. Outside the studio, strontium carbonate is used as a red colorant in pyrotechnic compositions, in ferrite magnet production, and in specialty glass.
