Starpol Powder

Starpol is a commercial-grade, starch-derived binder powder supplied as a light golden-yellow solid. It is water soluble and is used in the same role as dextrin in pyrotechnic star and comet work, where it gives good green strength and a firm bond once dried.

Compared with dextrin it is less hygroscopic, so it takes up less atmospheric moisture and is less prone to clumping or blooming in humid conditions. Typical uses are as a binder in cut, rolled and pumped stars, and as a general adhesive binder in composition work.
