Cryolite Sodium Aluminum Fluoride Powder

Cryolite, or sodium aluminum fluoride, is supplied here as a 99% lab-grade white powder in a 1 lb quantity. Its main property of interest is that it lowers the melting point of the materials it is added to, which is the basis of most of its industrial use.

It serves as a flux in aluminum metallurgy and in glass and enamel production, as an opacifier and flux in ceramic glazes, and as a component of pyrotechnic compositions. It is also used as a filler in abrasive and friction products.
