Parlon Pergut S10 Powder

Parlon (Pergut S10) is a chlorinated rubber supplied as a fine white powder with a chlorine content of roughly 65 to 68 percent. In pyrotechnics it does two jobs at once: it is a chlorine donor supporting the metal chloride emitters that give saturated reds, greens, and blues from strontium, barium, and copper compounds, and it is a flexible binder for cut, pumped, and rolled stars.

It dissolves in acetone and xylene rather than water. The same chlorinated rubber is used industrially in marine and traffic paints and corrosion-resistant coatings.
