Guanidine Nitrate CH₅N₃·HNO₃

Guanidine nitrate, CH₅N₃·HNO₃, is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is both nitrogen-rich and oxygen-bearing, so it acts as oxidizer and fuel in the same material. This is laboratory-grade powder.

Its main industrial use is in gas-generating compositions, including automotive airbag inflators, and it appears in low-smoke pyrotechnic and propellant formulations where high gas output and little visible residue are wanted. Combustion products are largely nitrogen, water and carbon dioxide. As an oxidizer it is stored away from fuels, acids and heat sources.
