Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate Crystal Powder

Copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO4 5H2O) is supplied as blue crystalline powder at lab grade. It is highly soluble in water and is the standard copper source for electroplating and copper electroforming baths, supplying copper ions to the electrolyte.

It is also combined with lime as Bordeaux solution for agricultural and horticultural use, added to ceramic glazes as a soluble copper colorant, and used in algae control, etching, and analytical chemistry. In teaching labs it is the usual material for growing large single crystals and for demonstrating hydration and metal displacement reactions.
