Charcoal Powder Airfloat (Eastern Red Cedar)

Eastern red cedar charcoal powder is an airfloat-grade softwood charcoal milled from the heartwood of Juniperus virginiana. Airfloat describes the particle size: the material is milled fine enough that it carries in air, with no coarse fragments, so it disperses evenly and behaves consistently between batches.

Softwood charcoals such as cedar, willow and paulownia burn faster than hardwood grades, which is why they are the usual choice for black powder work, lift and burst compositions, rocket fuels and black match. The same powder also serves as a carbon source in other pyrotechnic mixtures and as a fine black pigment.
